This film is based on the comic book about Captain America, a soldier during WWII who is routinely turned away from joining the army because of multiple issues with him not being physically desirable to be a soldier. However, he is picked to be a part of a program to turn him into the perfect soldier. Soon after he is changed by the program, sabotage takes the whole thing down and kills the scientist who is in charge of the research. After becoming the army's tool, the cap takes matters into his own hands and begins going after the man who is responsible for the killing of the scientist (and who is trying to kill pretty much everyone).

This one is worth the check-out, even if you have to pay the full price for it.

Starring: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, January Jones and Kevin Bacon.
Released Nationwide: June 3, 2011

This is a reboot of the X-Men movie series which takes place during the Cuban Missile Crisis of the late '60s. The first group of "X-Men" are enlisted to help Charles Xavier (Professor X) and Eric Lensherr (Magneto) stop a Russian ship from bringing missiles to Cuba and beginning World War III.

The film was fun to watch (as a film and as a game of "spot the star"), and is worth checking out.

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Stellan SkarsgÄrd.
Released Nationwide: May 6, 2011

This film is based on the Marvel comic "Thor" and tells the story of how Thor was banished from Asgard (the home of the Norse gods) when his father decides that he is not worthy of being the successor for the crown. As a result, he must go to earth and prove that he is worthy of being the next king.

This was a fun film, and certainly worth going to see as a matinee.
